Combo Trip FAQs
How is the time split between fishing and wildlife viewing?
Typically we spend about 5 hours fishing in the morning when salmon are most active, then transition to 3 hours of dedicated wildlife viewing. However, we're flexible - if you're into hot fishing action, we might extend that. If wildlife is exceptional, we'll spend more time there.
Can I keep the fish we catch on the combo trip?
Absolutely! The fishing portion is a full fishing charter. Your catch will be cleaned and bagged for you to take home, just like our regular fishing charters. You get the best of both worlds.
What's the boat like for an 8-hour trip?
We use our 27' Boston Whaler Conquest for combo trips. It has a heated cabin, onboard washroom, and comfortable seating - essential for a full-day adventure. You'll stay comfortable whether fishing or wildlife watching.
Is the combo trip good for families with kids?
It's excellent for families! The variety keeps kids engaged - they get the excitement of fishing, then the wonder of seeing whales and sea lions. The full day can be long for very young children, so we recommend ages 8+ for best enjoyment.
What if the fishing is slow - do we still go wildlife viewing?
Yes! The wildlife viewing portion is scheduled regardless of fishing success. Sometimes the best wildlife sightings happen on days when fishing is quiet - it all balances out for a great day on the water.
When is the best time of year for a combo trip?
July through September offers the best combination: peak salmon fishing coincides with the highest likelihood of whale sightings. Early morning starts give us the best fishing, and whales are often most active in the afternoon.
